2015 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Soccer and Girls’ Soccer Coach of the Year

GAINESVILLE (March 13) — The five individual class finalists for the 2015 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Soccer and Girls’ Soccer Coach of the Year have been announced following balloting by a statewide panel of high school girls’ soccer coaches and prep media representatives.

Every finalist was the leading vote-getter in their classification, making each one the Player of the Year or Coach of the Year in that class.  The 2015 Miss Soccer and Girls’ Soccer Coach of the Year will be announced following a final round of balloting by coaches and media.

Following are the five finalists for 2015 Miss Soccer Award:

Dallas Dorosy, Senior, Midfielder, St. Thomas Aquinas, Class 5A Player of the Year
The Florida State signee led Aquinas to a 24-1-1 and its second straight state title by scoring 17 goals and adding 16 assists. Last year’s Class 5A player-of-the-year runnerup finished her career with 43 goals and 38 assists.

Emily Madril, Sophomore, Forward, Navarre, Class 4A Player of the Year
Madril led her school to a 24-3-2 record and its first district and regional titles and first trip to the Final Four by
posting up 35 goals and 28 assists, including nine game-winning goals.

Melanie Monteagudo, Senior, Forward, Plantation American Heritage, Class 3A Player of the Year
The 2014 Florida Miss Soccer and University of Florida signee led her team to a 22-1-2 record and its third straight
state title by scoring 34 goals and adding 21 assists.

Leah Ferlin, Sophomore, Forward, The Bolles School, Class 2A Player of the Year
Ferlin led Bolles to a 24-3-4 record and its first state title since 2008 by scoring 29 goals and adding 16 assists.

Chelsea Burns, Senior, Midfielder, St. John’s Country Day, Class 1A Player of the Year
Last year’s Class 1A Player-of-the-Year runnerup led St. John’s to a 24-2 record and its fourth straight state title.
The Duke University signee scored 31 goals and added 25 assists.

Following are the five finalists for 2015 Girls’ Soccer Coach of the Year Award:

Carlos Giron, St. Thomas Aquinas, Class 5A Coach of the Year
In his 33rd year at Aquinas, Giron led his team to a 24-1-1 record and its second straight state title. It was the 14th
state title during Giron’s tenure, in which he has posted a career record of 753-71-22.

Courtney Lundy, Viera, Class 4A Coach of the Year
In her third year at Viera, Lundy posted a 20-2 record and took her team to a state championship. Her overall record
at Viera is 47-10-5.

Vicky King, Land O’Lakes, Class 3A Coach of the Year
King led her squad to a 24-2 record and a state runnerup finish. In 33 years at Land O’Lakes, King has advanced to three Final Fours, and won the state title in 2003. Her career record is 433-82-52.

Matt Tracy, The Bolles School, Class 2A Coach of the Year
Tracy led Bolles to a 24-3-4 record and its first state title since 2008. In 10 years at Bolles, Tracy has had seven
Final Four appearances and an overall record of 202-52-18.

Mike Pickett, St. John’s Country Day, Class 1A Coach of the Year
Pickett, the 1A Coach-of-the-Year for the fourth straight year, led the Spartans to a 24-2 record and their fourth consecutive state championship. In 17 years at St. John’s, he has won seven state titles (a trio of 3A state titles)
and has an overall record of 347-53-29.
