2015 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Swimming and Miss Swimming

GAINESVILLE (Jan. 4) – Seniors Marco Guarente of Cypress Bay High School and Sherridon Dressel of Clay High School (Green Cove Springs) have been named the 2015 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Swimming and Miss Swimming following a final round of voting by a statewide panel of prep swim coaches.

Guarente, the Class 4A Boys’ Swimmer of the Year and a University of Florida signee, won state titles in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley. The other swimmers-of-the-year in each class included Hans Schroeder of Charlotte (Class 3A), Julien Pinon of American Heritage (Class 2A) and Santi Corredor of Bishop Verot (Class 1A).

Dressel, the Class 2A Girls’ Swimmer-of-the-Year, repeated as the state champ in both the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke and will join her brother Caeleb, a two-time Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Swimming, at the University of Florida as a member of the Gator swimming program. The other class winners included Katie Vasiloff of Durant (Class 4A), Alena Kraus of Gainesville (Class 3A) and Katie Schorr of Montverde Academy (Class 1A).

The Florida Dairy Farmers High School Sports Awards program exemplifies Florida Dairy Farmers’ commitment to the state’s youth. This is the 24th year of these awards honoring the state’s top athletes and coaches in all 30 FHSAA sanctioned and recognized sports. The program also emphasizes to young people the importance of keeping dairy products a primary part of their diet in their overall nutrition plan.
