Title: HS Football – Buchholz (Gainesville) (8-1) at Santa Fe (Alachua) (6-2)

Event Details: Join Marty Pallman (Play-by-play) and Tyler TenBieg (Color) for this Alachua County showdown. It’s Senior Night for the Raiders. Both teams are headed to the postseason as district champs (Buchholz – 7A; Santa Fe -4A). The game will also air on AM-1230 in Gainesville, AM-900 in Ocala & FM-100.1 in Ocala.  Audio link listed below.

Buchholz finished with a winning record for the first time in 10 years. They also won their first district title in 11 years.  The Bobcats’ only loss was at Columbia (Lake City), which is currently ranked 4th in the state in Class 7A. They finished 4-0 in the district after winning just one district game the year before. Buchholz is led by QB Jackson White, RB Torrey Richardson and WR’s Luke Whittemore, Barry Moore and Bryan Jasacak. They have big-play capability on offense and have scored 20 points or more in every game this season, including 30 points or more in five straight games. They also have won three games in the final minute so their battle tested.

Buchholz will have to figure out a way to slow down the rushing attack of Santa Fe, which had 325 yards on just 32 carries last week against Keystone (201 of those came in the first half with a running clock in the second half). Quarterback B.J. Williams had 160 yards on 13 carries, Ale Sheppard had 83 yards on nine carries, tailback Fred Brown had 76 yards on only eight carries. The offense is averaging 40 points per game over their last three games (all victories). The defense pitched its first shutout of the season and held Keystone to less than 65 yards of offense. They’ve held five opponents to 13 points or less, including Class 7A Tallahassee Chiles which will be playing Columbia in the first round of the state playoffs. The Raiders won their first district title since 1996.

Buchholz & Santa Fe are two of four Alachua County teams headed to the state playoffs. Next week, Buchholz will host Edgewater (Orlando) in Class 7A & Santa Fe will host South Sumter (Bushnell) in the 4A state playoffs.
