Scouting Report: Dunnellon, which won its first playoff game since 2003 a week ago, is winning by average of 32 points per game. Santa Fe coach Bill Wiles was an assistant at Dunnellon under head coach Richard Kennedy in 1985-86, which had former Gator receiver Ernie Mills. That 1985 football team lost in the 2A state semifinals to Fort Walton Beach Walton. Tigers won back-to-back state titles under Kennedy in 1978-79. Santa Fe, which won its first playoff game since 2004 last week, is looking for its first third round advancement since 1999. The Raiders played two 7A playoff teams in Buchholz and Tallahassee Chiles, battling the Bobcats to the end (18-14 loss) while dominating the Timberwolves (42-10). Dunnellon won at South Sumter (27-7) to clinch District 4.

OCALA STAR-BANNER PREVIEW

The Tigers’ defense held Bradford to just 69 rushing yards last week, the first playoff win for top-ranked Dunnellon since 2003. Josh Williams led the Tigers with six tackles, while Maurice Goolsby had two sacks. Offensively, the Tigers have put together three straight games scoring 35 points or more. Dunnellon had a streak earlier in the season of six straight games with 40 points or more. Quarterback Kobie Jones had an efficient day going 6-of-11 passing for 114 yards and one touchdown in the win. Santa Fe cruised to a 4-0 record in District 4A-3, outscoring its league opponents by a score of 192-26. The Raiders feature a run-heavy offense centered around quarterback BJ Williams (321 yards, 3 TDs passing; 1,203 rushing, 13 TDs) and running back Fred Brown (1,013 rushing yards and 13 TDs). Tyler Hughey (104 tackles), Caysaun Wakeley (95 tackles, 11 sacks), Walter Jenkins (88 tackles, 9.5 sacks) and Isaiah Cromarty (37 tackles, 4 INT) lead the Raiders defense.
