The FHSAA’s football officials training will be taking place on Friday and Saturday, August 10-11.
There are 16 FHSAA member schools that will host the event across the state of Florida. There will be 13 different Football Officials Associations along with 100-plus schools attending. The training sessions are free to officials and teams. We anticipate more than 1,000 officials will participate in this statewide training.
2018 Football Official Training Goals:
1. Common football officiating curriculum provided by FHSAA and taught by our top officials with the goal of statewide consistency.
2. Coaches and Officials question and answer session to bridge the gap between the two groups.
3. Train all officials with instant on-field feedback.
4. Encourage Associations to use the training to help develop playoff crews.
All sites have been assigned a lead clinician. Each team will play a half or a quarter based on how many teams are at the site. All the matchups were created by us and approved by all participants. All of the curriculum, Hot Topics and power point were created by us, vetted by our top officials and then shared with all of the training associations.
