2015 PREVIEW: Following a playoff berth last season in Class 4A, the Fort White Indians drop down to Class 1A and will be in District 6 with Union County, Hawthorne, Baldwin & Hilliard.
The Indians come into the 2015 season with a young and talented group of players with experience. However, a lack of depth could be an issue.
Offensively they are led by Demetric Jackson, a second-year starter at QB, with quality weapons in Donald Robinson, who had over 1,000 total yards last year, and Brandon Davis. However, there are no proven back up players behind those starters.
Wide receiver Shannon Showers, who will also play cornerback & return kicks, broke his right ankle in May and will miss the first 2-3 games of the season.
While everyone returns in the secondary, the concern will at linebacker as they have to replace two four-year starters. However, senior nose guard Jon Mattson (114 tackles) and senior Brandon Davis (99), who will also play tight end, will anchor the defensive front.
The former Gator Demetric Jackson enters his ninth season as the head coach. He is excited about the new classification but also realizes a target will be on their back.
