Following a change in format which now provides local News, Traffic & Weather, plus Don Imus in the Morning, the Gainesville-based radio station will now add high school football to the mix.

Mike Ridaught, founder & owner of ThePrepZone.com, has agreed in principle to a high school football Game-of-the-Week on 104.9 The Talk of Gainesville and it will feature teams from Alachua County.  A total of 11 regular season games will make air beginning Friday, August 25, when Eastside hosts Buchholz for a city rivalry at Citizen’s Field.

“We are excited about our partnership with 104.9 The Talk of Gainesville which will allow us to broadcast on FM radio in Gainesville for the first time,” said Ridaught, who noted the weekly online show “The Prep Zone” with co-host Marty Pallman is back at Sonic on Mondays from 6-7 p.m. and will debut on Monday, August 22.  “This could not have been made possible without the continued support of State Farm Agent Mark McGriff, SunState Federal Credit Union and Sonic Drive-In, plus the local supporters of 104.9 FM.  We hope to build on these relationships to give the Gainesville community the very best in local prep sports coverage.”

In addition to the ‘live’ broadcasts, the station will also do giveaways at the games and on the radio.  A broadcast link will be provided to listen to the games each week at ThePrepZone.com  Other things are planned for ThePrepZone.com, which is celebrating its 10th year in 2016.  More information will be provided soon.
