On Friday night, the Belleview Rattlers will travel to Williston to take on the Red Devils.

Williston, 1-4, could use a win for their players and fans on homecoming after a tough 32-12 loss last week at Ft. White. Belleview, on the other hand, will be trying to pick up their first win of the year after an 0-4 start.

The Red Devils struggled mightily last week against Ft. White. Williston allowed 413 total yards, including 252 on the ground. Williston’s inability to defend the run was its known weakness going into the game, but they were exposed through the air as well, allowing 161 yards and three touchdowns to Ft. White.

The Williston game plan for Friday will be to win through offense.

Senior running back Quinyon Mitchell now has 686 yards rushing after running for 110 in last week’s defeat, and he will again be the focal point of the offense against Belleview. If Williston can get Mitchell going on the ground, the passing attack between senior quarterback CJ Strange and senior wide receiver Jermon Collins could open up as well.

Belleview could be in for a rough evening on defense. Their 0-4 start has been punctuated by allowing 274 rushing yards per game. Mitchell will have the chance to bust some big runs against the Rattlers’ defense.Belleview logo

Freshman quarterback and wide receiver Demetrius McCants will look to spark an offense that has struggled all year. The Rattlers have only averaged about three points a game and have been held scoreless twice. The competition they have faced is a combined 14-9, so playing against a Williston team that has struggled throughout the year as well could give the Rattlers a chance for a win.

The game will be played in Williston at 7 p.m. The game is homecoming for the Devils, so the halftime will be filled with the usual high school festivities. Good luck to both teams.
