Sonic Drive-In Player-of-the-Game for Dec. 12 – Amou Ring (The Rock)

The Sonic Drive-In Player-of-the-Game for Thursday, Dec. 12, was Amou Ring of the The Rock (Gainesville) girls’ basketball team.

Ring had a game-high 13 points as The Rock rallied for a 53-39 win against visiting Potter’s House Christian Academy (Jacksonville) in an SIAA game.

The junior didn’t have a field goal in the first half but scored 12 of her 13 points in the second half as the Lions (9-5, 2-1) outscored the visiting Lions (2-4), 34-16, in the second half.

Ring, who was shooting just 22% from behind the arc, made two three critical 3-pointers in the 2nd half.  She also grabbed seven rebounds.

Junior Harriet Hayford led Potter’s House with 11 points.

The Rock will travel to Mayo on Saturday for the Andy Hart Invitational. They will play Booker T. Washington (Pensacola) at 10:30 a.m., followed by a game against traditional FHSAA power Winter Haven at 1:30 p.m.

Every game The Prep Zone will recognize a Player-of-the-Game. The recipient receives a $10 gift certificate courtesy of Sonic Drive-In of Gainesville & Ocala.
