The Sonic Drive-In Player-of-the-Game for Friday, Oct. 5, is Cam Orth of the Buchholz (Gainesville) football team.
The senior quarterback completed 17-of-26 for 204 yards and three touchdowns as Buchholz snapped a 2-game losing streak to rival Gainesville with a 27-7 win.
Orth’s first scoring pass covered 43 yards to senior wide receiver Isaiah Michel with 7:10 to play in the second quarter for a 10-7 lead. The Bobcats never trailed again.
Michel was certainly a candidate for Player-of-the-Game, finishing with eight catches for 125 yards and two TDs. Orth completed a 13-yard TD pass to Michel with 7:45 to play in the game for the final outcome.
Orth also threw a 6-yard TD pass to Roderick Jackson in the third quarter.
Buchholz is back in action on Friday as the Bobcats (4-2, 1-0) travel to Creekside (St. Johns) for a Class 7A-District 3 game.
