Sonic Drive-In Player-of-the-Game for Tuesday, May 12 – Darian Ingram (Trenton)

Published:

The Sonic Drive-In Player-of-the-Game for Tuesday, May 12, was Darian Ingram of the Trenton softball team.

The senior tossed a 2-hit shutout as the defending 2019 Class 1A state champion Tigers (18-1) defeated visiting Dixie County, 4-0, on Tuesday night in the Region Final.

The Florida Atlantic University signee struck out 11 batters and only allowed two runners in scoring position. She finished with at least one strikeout in every inning and only had two walks.

“Darian was her typical self,” Bryant said. “If they’ve got to put the ball in play, they’re in trouble.”

The Tiger offense got the winning run in the second inning.

With two outs, Brandi Dees singled to right field. Ellie Sessler doubled to left field to score Dees to make it 1-0.

Trenton will play Branford in next Tuesday’s Class 1A state semifinals at Legends Way Ball Fields in Clermont. The Buccaneers (15-4) advanced with a 14-3 win against Taylor County (Perry).

Every game The Prep Zone will recognize a Player-of-the-Game. The recipient receives a $10 gift certificate courtesy of Sonic Drive-In of Gainesville & Ocala.
