The Hawthorne Hornets will be taking on the Crescent City Raiders in the Class 1A Region Semifinals. Hawthorne entered the postseason with a 10-0 record. Crescent City came into the FHSAA state playoffs with only two losses and now have a 9-2 record following a 22-6 first-round win vs. Fort Meade.
First Round
Due to their No. 1 seed and perfect record Hawthorne was given a first-round bye.
In the Raiders’ first game of the tournament, quarterback Naykee Scott went 9-for-15 for 97 yards and one TD. Scott also had the most rushing yards with 126 yards on 26 carries. Kevin Williams had the second best game with 12 carries for 35 yards. Dylan Cumming had three receptions for 48 yards. On defense, William Owens had nine tackles for the Raiders.
Stats and Star Players
Hawthorne on average outscores Crescent City in points per game 54.3 to 33.1. On the ground the teams are basically the same. The Hornets have 153.4 rushing yards per game while the Raiders average 154.8. In the passing game however, Hawthorne is the clear leader with 232.2 yards compared to the Raiders’ 153.1 passing yards. On defense, Hawthorne makes 57.1 tackles per game and Crescent City makes 54 tackles.
Uveekie Fields leads the Hornets in rushing yards with 103.6 per game. QB Kahleil Jackson puts up 231 passing yards. Jackson had 2,711 total yards (2,310 passing & 401 rushing), along with 45 touchdowns and only three interceptions. On defense Mike Reed makes 10 tackles a game.
For the Raiders, QB Naykee Scott not only puts up 152.5 passing yards per game but also leads the team in rushing yards with 60 per game. On the defensive side of the ball Jontre Tape puts up 7.8 tackles a game.
